Cabo De Rama Fort History

The ownership of Cabo De Rama Fort has changed hands several times in the past. And with every change of its possession, several additions were made to it.

The underground tunnels were made by the Portuguese colonizers. This system of tunnels served as an easy exit in times of emergency.

The British later on used this fort as a jail and the interiors were thus constructed accordingly.

However, the most interesting history of this fort lies in its name.

It is believed that Lord Rama visited this fort along with his wife during his long exile from Ayodhya.

This is the reason why this fort’s name has used the name of “Rama”.
